Totally Wrapped
Who has time for shopping sprees in a frantic world? Most women's lifestyles are less than conducive to this luxury, but for Jenny Veitch, 'picking up a few things' is core business.
Jenny's business 'Wrapped In Style' is a one-stop shop for busy executives needing gifts to thank, gifts to welcome, gifts to apologise-gifts for every occasion imaginable. The conference delegate market is her specialty.
"I have always loved the idea of exquisitely presented gifts," Jenny explains. "I love the element of surprise and I enjoy beautiful packaging."
A veteran of visual merchandising at Country Road, Jenny understands the quality and variety of gift packaging and saw an opportunity to channel her talents in to a business.
She approached her startup systematically. Organising a focus group of corporate friends and acquaintances, she brainstormed her new venture. Armed with their feedback she built a contact base of firms and individuals who might benefit from her new service.
Jenny then held a cocktail party to introduce 'Wrapped In Style' to her target market. Jenny still hosts elaborate cocktail-style client evenings annually to introduce new lines, ask clients about their needs and to explore coming events.
"I started with a budget of $25,000 and relied on word of mouth for my marketing," recalls Jenny. "It was a huge risk for me particularly with two small children. I just felt this was something I really wanted to do."
