International activity full—steam ahead
Adelaide Convention and Tourism Authority reps lobbied industry groups in Paris in June, touting SA’s facilities, experiences and products.
ACTA will also attend the International Space University Summer Session in Strasbourg to publicise the corresponding Adelaide event on 27 June to 27 August, 2004.
The nine—week program is a major win for South Australia’s convention industry, and was the result of a three—year bid process won against strong competition from Vancouver, Canada. The 2004 event will be only the second time in the history of the event that it has been held in the Southern Hemisphere.
City office demand soars
Earlier this year, CB Richard Ellis reported demand to purchase office buildings in Adelaide’s CBD is growing strongly with 2002 turnover exceeding $160m as compared to $113m during 2001. The 42% upswing pushed premium—grade office market rents above $350sqm in short supply. The Adelaide market is expected to attract keen interest from buyers in excess of $15m.
