Marina Hindmarsh Island Awarded International Prestige Ranking
Only 38 marinas in the world can boast a Five Gold Anchor rating from the UK—based Yacht Harbour Association. In July, the newly—opened Marina Hindmarsh Island joined marinas in the South of France and Florida in the front rank of international yachting accommodation.
The Marina Hindmarsh Island is only the second marina in Australia to receive the award.
In May, Marina Hindmarsh Island was named Australian Marina of the Year for 2003, ahead of Queensland’s Sanctuary Cove—It has been a banner year.
“To think 12 years ago when the project began that it would one day be rated at the top end of the international scale is just amazing," says developer, Andrew Chapman. “Especially when you consider the hurdles we’ve had to overcome along the way.”
The $300 million development is the largest freshwater marina in the southern hemisphere, with 40 hectares of freshwater lagoons and basins. When complete, the resort—style development will have 1000 new homes, 1,100 marina berths, a retail precinct, four—star resort, yacht club, helipad and recreation areas.
The Marina Association of Australia assessed The Marina Hindmarsh Island for the TYHA.
