Engineers Australia is this country’s largest and most diverse engineering association. It assists its 72,000 members to achieve their personal and professional goals, with more than 4,800 members in South Australia.
Engineers Australia provides an enormous range of benefits, facilities and services designed to meet members’ needs throughout their careers. Since 1919, The Institution of Engineers, Australia (now Engineers Australia) has provided the national focus for the development of all aspects of engineering as well as representing the interests of engineers and the communities they serve.
Engineers Australia membership is open to all qualified engineers willing to subscribe to a common Code of Ethics and to commit themselves to the sustainable development of Australia, by joining together to identify and respond to society’s needs.
Engineers Australia, South Australia Division, Executive Director, Gael Tilbrook said members were involved in leadership and management within the industry. This included managing teams of practitioners undertaking complex technical projects.
“Whether the member is an academic, leading a small consultancy or managing a large organisation, the authority and influence engineers have earned allows them to have a high degree of interaction with legislative and professional bodies, employers and employees, the media and public,” Gael says.
Chartered Status is the credential to which engineers aspire to and employer’s desire.
“To assist members to achieve Chartered Status, Engineers Australia offers a comprehensive Professional Development Program that assists and supports members and their employers,” Gael says. “The PDP is a formally recognised agreement between Engineers Australia, the employer and the engineer and is a structured program of professional formation based in the work place, ...
