Control Game
It has taken a little more than three years for a South Australian leisure company to hit the top of its game nationally.
GameTraders, a national franchise group based in Unley, won a major national franchisor award in September. Now boasting 18 stores – including 16 franchises – located throughout South Australia, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia, GameTraders has more than 1000 different computer games titles on offer.
Mark Langford founded the company in June 2000 after seeing his opportunity in the area of high—quality, second—hand computer games. The ‘used computer game’ market was kind to his fledgling firm and Game Traders does its best to reciprocate. Mark takes pride in his firm’s ability to cater to the full range of computer game formats developed since the 1970s. These range from the current Sony Playstation, X—Box and Nintendo systems to original formats such as Atari and Sega Megadrive.
GameTraders won the Franchisor of the Year Award in the retail category for franchisors with less than 20 outlets at the 2003 Excellence in Franchising Awards. The awards were presented at the Franchise
Council of Australia’s national conference in Melbourne in September.
Mark describes as “testimony to the company’s rapid growth and success over the past three years”.
