Applicants must also pay close attention to documentation and eligibility requirements to avoid disappointment.
Mr Taylor, principal consultant at EMDG Consulting, is registered with Austrade under the EMDG scheme, which is designed to stimulate export activity by helping to fund overseas marketing initiatives.
“Grants of up to $150,000 a year are available to applicants that meet the eligibility requirements and have the documentation to prove it," Mr Taylor said.
“Some applicants wrongly assume they are eligible and move a fair way down the application process only to discover that they’ve been wasting their time."
“Expenses incurred developing an overseas market in New Zealand, for example, are ineligible. Testing eligibility is the first step to making a successful claim."
