There’s an advantage in any event
An event can be a great way to get free advertising (or public relations), especially if what you are doing is newsworthy——a bit different from the ‘norm’. For example, holding a half—day army boot camp, or an event for a special occasion like the business’ anniversary.
Local papers are more likely to take up an event story, although it is also worth sending a press release (a brief paragraph with photos) to other relevant publications, including industry body newsletters that your target audience may read. Being a regular advertiser in a publication helps your chances immensely.
Business events can be held at any time of the year to maintain client and local contacts. Remember, an event doesn’t necessarily have to be an expensive affair; it could be holding a barbecue at a local park or a mini—golf tournament. As long as the client leaves the event feeling more positive towards your business, you have won.
