With the Republican and Democrat candidates now determined for the US Presidential election in November, we have undertaken some simple analysis of market reaction in each of the last 21 election years, dating back to 1920.
(Each Presidential term is fixed for four years, though it was only after the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt in his fourth term of office that the rules were changed to prohibit any President from serving more than two terms).
