Leading manufacturer to step down
One of SA’s best known manufacturing execs, Mike Nagel, is determined there will be no more comebacks when he retires from full-time employment for the second time. Mike, 62, plans to step down as MD of local air-conditioning manufacturer Seeley International at the end of this year. He was head of automotive components manufacturer Britax Rainsfords (now Schefenacker Vision Systems) for 16 years before his first retirement in 1996!
Airport Board appointments
Prominent corporate lawyer David Munt has been appointed chairman, and corporate finance specialist Perry Lucas a director, of the board of the privately owned Adelaide Airport Limited. David has focused the past 15 years on his responsibilities as director, chairman or deputy chairman for a number of public and privately owned companies. He also is a partner and Chairman of Partners at law firm Thomson Playford. Perry has a strong finance background and is a senior portfolio manager with Colonial First State Investments Limited. He specialises in infrastructure investment and is also a director of Brisbane Airport Corporation Limited and a partner representative for the Victorian-based Hazelwood Power Partnership.
Essential Services Commission (ESC) grows
The Governor has appointed a 4th commissioner to the ESC. Prof Sue Richardson, the Director of the Nat. Inst. of Labour Studies at Flinders Uni and President of the Aust Academy of Social Sciences, is an economist with considerable experience in public finance and energy. She was involved in research on energy poverty in SA and was a Director of The Pipelines Authority. The ESC now comprises: Lew Owens (Chair), Hon Stephen Baker, Prof Richard Blandy and Prof Sue Richardson.
