Chris Jenner
A recent winner of the Woman of Distinction Award presented by the Asia-Pacific Business Council and previous finalist of the Telstra Business Woman and Enterprising Business Woman of the Year awards, Chris Jenner has worked with Deloitte over the past eight years to build many productive partnerships, both locally and nationally.
Deloitte’s work with Uniting Care Wesley Adelaide (formerly Adelaide City Mission) provides just one example of Chris Jenner’s leadership approach to partnerships, which spans business, industry and community. The three-year partnership was founded on shared values, and delivered valued opportunities to work collaboratively, to inspire staff and to foster leadership and innovation.
While both the Uniting Care Wesley Adelaide and Deloitte enjoyed networking, profiling, funding, staff and business development opportunities, just as meaningful were the outcomes generated for the community, such as the facilitation of increased employment opportunities in the marketplace, and the building of better futures for youth.
Key to her success is Chris Jenner’s ability to build relationships, both within and without her organisation. Upon returning to the workforce after raising three children, Chris continued to be involved with her children’s school and sports committees. During the 80s, she worked for five high profile firms variously involved with food products, aged care, hospitality, financial advice and manufacturing. As Chris accepted roles of leadership, her focus remained in corporate affairs and marketing.
"You don’t have to talk tough to be tough," Chris says.
"A good leader can – and should – care, and still be able to make tough decisions. Whatever the issue, talk straight, consider the facts and focus on the right outcome."
