Deloitte Adelaide office leads Australian growth
The CEO of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Australia spoke to 'in-business' about the thriving local practice of the largest global professional services firm in the world.
The Adelaide branch of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu is thriving, with the audit practice alone growing faster than any of the firm's 10 other Australian offices, at a rate of 22% per annum.
CEO Giam Sweigers puts the growth down to hard work by a proactive team, led by SA Managing Partner Rob DiMonte.
Giam believes Deloitte SA is winning the battle for talent among the Big Four accounting firms, in part because it is the only one that has a fully integrated consulting model, offering the opportunity to practice skills ranging through actuarial, accounting, audit tax, corporate finance and consultancy.
The company employs 15% to 20% of its total Adelaide workforce from the graduate community, competing for a declining number of law-commerce graduates.
"Competition for graduates is tough, but we are a multidisciplinary practice and we work hard to recruit and retain the best talent in an industry with a staff turnover of over 5%," Mr Sweigers said.
Deloitte recently collaborated with Committee for Economic Development (CEDA) to explore ways in which a pool of young talent could be retained in the State.
