Christian music is the fastest growing music genre in the world, often overlapping mainstream commercial playlists with hits such as Praise You (Mary Mary) which topped the mainstream charts in Australia recently.
Music publisher EMI recently opened a Christian music division in the USA in answer to the rising popularity of the segment.
Local radio station Life FM is flourishing with this convergence. A Christian station in principle, Life includes ‘secular’ hits in a playlist built on merit and governed by a few basic rules: are no swearing, no greed, no ridicule, no put downs allowed in the music or from the announcers. The mix is not very much different from what's offered by other stations in the FM band.
