Businesses bodies slam Labour Bill
Business SA rallied South Australian business and employer groups late last year to oppose the State Government's Labour Market Relations Bill.
Representing 15,000 businesses and 150,000 employees, the joint business group launched a PR campaign against the Bill.
The major concerns and implications for business from the Bill include more third party intervention, more arbitration and more regulation and red tape.
"We stand as a united front against this Bill, which is bad for business, bad for families and bad for jobs," says Business SA Chief Executive Officer Peter Vaughan.
"We believe the Bill will present more complexity and workplace disputes and there is no certainty and less choice for employers."
Hartley, Event Planners merge
Adelaide’s Hartley Management Group merged operations with Australia’s largest meeting and event management company, Event Planners Australia, on 1 January 2005.
The Hartley Management Group was founded in Adelaide by Graham Teague in 1990, and has won multiple national and state Meetings and Events Industry awards for Excellence from the Meetings Industry Association of Australia.
“Extensive synergies exist between the two companies, and the merger will contribute to our ability to provide best-practice service on a national level,” says Chairman of Event Planners, Ray Shaw.
In his new role as a Director of Event Planners, Graham Teague will join the company’s Board of Management, with Chairman, Ray Shaw; Managing Director, Bryan Holliday; and General Manager, Suzanne Best.
Event Planners Australia was formed in July 2004 as the result of the merger of Sydney’s ICMS Australasia and Brisbane’s Intermedia Convention & Event Management.
The company employs more than 70 staff and has confirmed meetings worth approximately $40 million booked to 2008.
