Tech uptake plan to pilot in SA
The state Department for Trade and Economic Development DTED has joined with the Australian Institute for Commercialisation (AIC) to run the national TechFast pilot program in South Australia.
TechFast, an AIC initiative which is funded by the Australian Government Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources, aims to encourage established and technology receptive Small and Medium Enterprises to adopt commercially viable technologies and know-how from research organisations.
Businesses that meet TechFast criteria can obtain up to $100,000 funding to offset the cost of taking up and developing an innovative product or service.
Australia lags significantly behind developed countries in this area and TechFast will improve the scale and speed at which SME’s are able to successfully expand and grow their businesses by accelerating take-up of leading edge technologies developed in Australian research centres.
To remain competitive and enter new markets, SME’s need to adopt new technologies at a faster rate. TechFast accelerates the commercialisation and transfer of R&D into industry by incubating new R&D within promising small businesses.
The main objective is to grow established, well-performing, technology based SMEs into larger, sustainable businesses that will continue to grow strongly and make a significant contribution to economic growth and development in South Australia.
