Drive forwards looking backwards
by Bill Anschutz
If an equal amount of the money and resources committed to financial auditing were spent on auditing and upgrading the processes, structures and values, that produce the results; we would be a lot more competitive.
Business is obsessed with auditing history and tax structuring. We do not even question the process because it is compulsory. Although there is no legislation that demands success, the penalties for failure are extreme and terminal.
Where is the uncompromising commitment to learning, development and improvement? Do a quick comparison on the resources and costs. How much did your business invest to achieve improvements? Does your business see learning development and improvement as optional processes to be fitted in around the day-to-day functions? Does your business see training and development as expenses or investments? What priority does your business give to the continuous development of process improvement, in all areas of its operations? It is not a case of either or, it is a total process, or nothing.
