City of Salisbury confident about its future
The northern suburbs, and in particular the City of Salisbury, is experiencing an unprecedented boom period.
The value of development in Salisbury this year reached $288 million for the first time, outstripping any other local government region.
A recent KPMG study found that the concentration of industry north of Adelaide provided one of the most cost competitive environments in the world for exporting. The study also highlighted the region's competitive advantages in key industries such as defence, food production, automotive manufacturing, electronics, pharmaceuticals, IT and biotechnology.
All of these industry sectors are concentrated in the Salisbury region which is emerging as one of Australia's key industrial and commercial zones.
It's a vision that Salisbury Council has been committed to in recent years, driven by its longstanding City Manager Stephen Hains.
“Salisbury offers good access to transport routes, a large available pool of skilled and semi-skilled workers and quality education and retail facilities,” Stephen says.
“More than 100 exporting companies are now based in Salisbury in a range of industries including automotive production and services, defence and electronics, information technology and wholesale distribution.
