Top 100 Service builds their Leed
SA Water waxes lyrical in describing its relationship with homegrown infrastructure contractor, Leed Engineering and Construction.
The utility’s 03-04 annual report has this to say:
Achieving value for money on behalf of the State’s water consumers is a major priority for SA Water’s procurement team which sources products, services and expertise from around SA, the nation and the world to deliver quality services and supplies.
By supporting local companies whenever possible, the procurement team also contributes to job creation, economic and business growth in South Australia.
In the case of Adelaide-based company Leed Engineering and Construction, the relationship with SA Water has significantly boosted this new enterprise.
Started from scratch only three years ago, Leed is a rapidly growing capital works construction firm with more than 70 employees.
Leed has been employed on a number of capital works projects for SA Water and United Water, including the Port Adelaide-Bolivar high salinity pipeline and the rehabilitation of the Loxton irrigation scheme.
“A great deal of our work has been for SA Water and this has doubled our turnover and our workforce in a short time,” says director Mark Jones.
“Working for someone like SA Water looks good on our resume, and it has also resulted in us working on water engineering projects interstate. It’s a good market to be in, and our relationship with SA Water ...
