Next Byte uploads teamwork
“We worked very well in all areas of the business for the better part of 10 years and having three owners allowed us to grow the business rapidly and set up the infrastructure that we now enjoy,” Crawf says.
“The success of the partnership was also a key driver in us being able to set up the business such that it can continue to grow and be successful now with only two partners, being Tim and myself.
“I can't stress how important the teamwork and effort that all 3 of us put in has been.”
Crawf joined Next Byte in 1997. He had been working for FH Faulding & Co, acquiring a business and integrating it with the existing consumer brands business unit.
“The offer to join Tim and Adam and work for myself was very attractive. We also had a strong drive to change the lives of the staff that worked with us which was a significant motivator,” he recalls.
“You could say there was a bit of a David and Goliath mentality in that we were the smallest Apple dealer in Apple's smallest market, ie SA, and we wanted to be the largest dealer in Australia.
“I think my finance back ground is a huge benefit to the business in that I can quickly understand whether an opportunity makes financial sense.
“Having said that, not all decisions can be made based on the numbers on a spreadsheet and there are often times when you need to go on 'gut feel' and back your judgement.”
Crawf freely acknowledges the contributions...
