Major developments boost SA

The second edition of the Major Developments SA Directory, released by the South Australian Department of Trade and Economic Development, lists around 220 projects with a total value in excess of $20 billion, a huge jump from the 2004 directory, which listed 140 projects valued at $14 billion.

Projects in the new Directory range in size and diversity from the $1.3 million Flinders Industrial Estate in Port Pirie; Stage 2 of Babcock & Brown's Lake Bonney Wind Farm ($300 million); Prominent Hill Gold and Copper Project - a potential investment of $530 million; to vast, long-term projects requiring a huge range of skills, like the Olympic Dam expansion and the $6 billion Air Warfare Destroyer projects.

The urban development category lists in excess of $6 billion worth of commercial, residential and community projects, while heightened interest in the State's mining potential is reflected in the increase from $6.5 to $8.5 billion of mineral and energy projects in the d...
