Using Games glory to inspire business
Matthew Cowdrey, the articulate 17-year-old South Australian swimmer, won the hearts and minds of the nation at the recent Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
Becoming the first Australian swimmer to break a world record and first Australian male to win the EAD 50m freestyle, Matthew went on to claim his eighth world record in winning the 100m freestyle by 1.2 seconds.
The inspirational teenager, who was born with a congenital amputation of his left arm just below the elbow, was the only Australian male in the swimming team to get an individual gold medal.
His next major goals include competing in the World Championships in December, then the Bejing Paralympic Games in 2008 and London in 2012.
