Ideal business model for Marketa
Marketa Jedlik
by Penelope Herbert
Bringing an international perspective and fluency in three languages to the role of Marketing Manager for National Pharmacies is another development in the remarkable career of Marketa Jedlik.
Born in the Czech Republic and partially raised in Canada, Marketa has worked in hospitality sales & marketing in the picturesque Cariboo and Whistler regions of British Colombia and has been a market analyst and translator for the LECO group based in the Czech Republic. Love brought her to Adelaide; and passion keeps her here.
How did you come to live in Adelaide?
I moved to Adelaide because my husband, Dieter, had the opportunity to manage and expand a local software company, Integrated Aviation Software Pty Ltd, a leading source of aviation management software worldwide.
This was an amazing opportunity for both of us — but particularly for me, as I was keen to experience the country where my husband was born. He had spoken so fondly of Australia when we lived in Canada.
How does your background relate to your current position with National Pharmacies?
I am interested in consumer behavior, communication and how different markets operate. This passion took me across various business sectors in several countries, one of which was retail and the development of loyalty schemes.
My desire to understand consumer trends and provide best solutions based on customer need, combined with more than 10 years of international marketing experience, have proven invaluable in my current position.
What is your role?
I am the marketing manager for National Pharmacies, which owns and operates 56 pharmacy stores across three states — South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales — as well as 14 specialised optical stores. I report to the general manager of merchandising and I manage a marketing team of four people.
Is there an opportunity to ‘make your mark’ with NP?
