Rebooting Global IT
A high—level forum to stimulate global business in information technology is being organised as a major curtain—raiser to the World Congress on IT 2002 in Adelaide.
Organisers have expanded the event to five days, with a strong business focus that aims to bring together influential corporate executives from Asia with IT decision—makers from the US, Europe and Australia.
Former US President Bill Clinton heads a powerful line—up of international business, IT and government leaders who have accepted invitations to speak at the event from February 25 to March 1 next year.
In releasing details of the registration program, congress chief executive officer Mr John Gygar said the aim was to provide a solid week of business opportunities for the 1700 delegates expected to attend.
“The program has been structured to reinvigorate international business confidence in information technology," Mr Gygar said.
“Delegates will be given an exciting and unique insight into where technology is heading and the opportunity to develop real business outcomes.
“A two—day IT Business Forum has been introduced into the program and is specifically aimed at providing maximum value for delegates.
“The forum will facilitate business relationships between international movers in IT with future users of that technology.”
Mr Gygar said the line—up of speakers at the event was one of the most impressive in its 23—year history.
Among the speakers joining Mr Clinton will be IBM Global Services vice president Doug Elix, Nokia vice chairman Dr Yrjö Neuvo, Silicon Graphics chief executive Bob Bishop, Fujitsu chief executive Naoyuki Akikusa, NASDAQ president Al Berkeley, author and futurist Don Tapscott and Infosys Technologies chief executive N.R. Narayana Murthy.
