is motivation really personal?
It can reasonably be argued that motivation is purely personal, and if a worker is being paid a fair day’s wage, he should put in a fair day’s effort. In a utopian society this would indeed be the case. Unfortunately we don’t live in Utopia. Bonus schemes often provide incentive, and certainly profit sharing has its role, but after a while these can easily become taken for granted, and the initial high burst of enthusiasm that may accompany a new initiative can soon fade. So how can the workplace atmosphere continue to inspire?
Life Skills Coaching….What is it?
Life Skills Coaching is the latest Personal and Business Development tool that is sweeping the world. In America it has become the next fastest growing industry to information technology. In 1996 Australia had no Coaching schools; in 1998 there were 2, and this year around 8 to 10. The most dynamic of these is Results Life Coaching, based in Sydney. RLC has developed its own unique coaching model, and has expanded its operations to produce trained coaches throughout Australia and in New Zealand, the US and England.
While many Managers and HR staff incorporate some traditional coaching techniques, real benefits are achieved by using an outside coach, preferably one with little or no experience in that company’s particular line of business.
