Conservatory to set green benchmark
A $70 million, 19-storey apartment and office building on the former RAA site in Hindmarsh Square aims to become an energy conservation benchmark for buildings of its type in SA.
Conservatory on Hindmarsh Square, launched in July, has office accommodation on the first nine floors and 53 apartments, including two penthouses, in the 10 upper floors.
“Conservatory has been designed for Adelaide's specific seasonal and environmental conditions and targets a 50% reduction in energy use by apartments and a 95% reduction for all common areas,” says Hines Property director, James Hines. Hines has developed $90 million worth of CBD apartment projects in the past five years.
“Additionally, the building is designed to reach a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, 51% reduction in water usage and a 40% reduction in waste to landfill,” James says.
