Presenter Scott Gillespie of ExpatriateConnect says exporters find entering the European Union through Italy is a ‘safe’ way to enter and start trading in that bloc.
Why Italy instead of the UK? Intense economic activity there offsets the advantage of going into an English-speaking country. Also, Italy’s economy is very cluster-oriented. Leather, shoes and the garment industries are coherent. Italy makes most of the world’s packaging equipment.
A number of EU economic programs encourage international collaboration to promote development in certain parts of the bloc. Seeking collaborative niches lets exporters get into action quickly. Export could develop ‘backwards’ with the Australian enterprise using international collaboration to grow from an early-stage company state.
