New direction for northeastern
“Women play an essential role in the workforce,” says Business Enterprise Centre Tea Tree Gully (BEC) Manager, Petrina Jude, who has set up the North East Women (NEW) network launched on 31 May.
“NEW is a BEC initiative that has been set up to provide a holistic ‘whole of life service’ to women who seek to participate successfully in their business, family, social and community ventures,” Petrina says.
70 people attended the lunch including Tea Tree Gully Mayor, Lesley Purdom AM JP, and Councillor Miriam Smith, who spoke about leadership and shared some of her life experiences. The launch also provided an opportunity for local businesses to set up a display of their products.
Petrina says NEW plans to hold quarterly functions focusing on four key areas: networking, mentoring, business relationships and local support. She says business to business networking will be a feature for both men and women.
The next NEW function will be held on Wednesday, 6 September. Guests and those interested in sponsorship opportunities are asked to contact Petrina on 08 8379 9555 or email new@becttg.sa.gov.au
