The futures in SAFF hands
When we first met South Australian Farmers Fuel in early 2004 the company had left the entrepreneurial phase and CEO and founder Andy Fischer was looking forward to consolidating his gains. But innovation was a priority and alternative fuel ideas were on the boil.
In consultation with the Australian Greenhouse Office SAFF has refined the technique of blending canola oil with diesel, from 1999 blending test stock and designing a continuous flow Biodiesel processor, which produces stock for distribution through its network.
Made to environmental standards, Biodiesel reduces engine wear and greenhouse gas emissions and significantly cuts exhaust pollutants, SAFF claims.
This commitment to environmental friendliness continues to be SAFF's heavily emphasised point of difference, which the company is following up with new products, lobbying and new retail initiatives.
“In August 2005, we launched Australia's First All Green Fuels Service Station (at Martins Plaza, Parafield Gardens)," Andy says.
“In conjunction with our launch, we announced our unique agreement with the Australian Carbon Biosequestration Initiative. All our biofuels are carbon neutral.
“We were also recognised in the Biofuels Taskforce report and received accolades from the Federal Minister for Industry, Ian MacFarlane, as 'premier biofuels retailer in Australia'.”
