Air South launches Kangaroo Island shuttle
Passenger and light cargo carrier Air South, has expanded its operations to Kangaroo Island with the launch of a new airline service.
In a first for the Adelaide-based and locally owned company Air South will begin running a regular, regional airline service.
Previously the company has focused on charter flight operations across the State.
While charter services will remain a key focus of Air South, the firm's MD, Michael Kohn, says the latest move comes in response to strong demand for regional passenger services, particularly among inbound tourists and the local residents who commute between the island and the mainland.
Air South Regional began operation on 13 February 2007. Initially it will operate four return passenger flights every day from Adelaide Airport's General Aviation Terminal to Kangaroo Island (Kingscote). Flights will also carry some cargo.
