Thinker on family business
A world-renowned specialist in family business management and succession planning is coming to Adelaide to help drive home the point that family business in this state is facing a revolution.
As 'in-business' revealed last issue, almost all of South Australia's family owned business will change hands in the next 10 years as the Baby Boomer generation retires. That huge changeover will cause serious pain if it's not managed well.
Prof Dennis Jaffe is the Professor of Organizational Systems at Saybrook Graduate School in San Francisco and for 30 years has been helping family businesses all over the world deal with transition, create effective management teams, design family retreats and build healthy relationships.
Dennis will be Thinker in Residence for the Family Business Association of SA from 25 July to 31 August, with support from the State Government.
“I am looking forward to my stay in Australia,” Dennis says.
“My focus will be on family business, in helping small, medium and large family business navigate through the personal family and the marketplace challenges to sustain the business into the next generation.
“I will be meeting family business owners and family members, and learning about the specific challenges they face. I will be adding my own familiarity with these challenges in other family businesses around the world.”
