Innovation Festival
Innovation and entrepreneurship will come under the spotlight in SA this April and May as the state joins in a nationwide program for the Australian Innovation Festival.
The month-long annual Festival, now in its sixth year, officially starts in SA on 26 April and runs until 27 May, but check the website at www.ausinnovation.org as some events take place before the launch.
This year, the Festival's theme “Clusters of Brilliance” acknowledges the diverse strengths of Australia's many regions and encourages us to build on them.
The State Department of Trade and Economic Development (DTED) and the Centre for Innovation (CFI) are coordinating more than 50 events across metropolitan Adelaide and the Limestone Coast.
CFI Chairman, David Simmons says the Festival points out the reality that innovation is critical to the SA's economic development.
“Innovation and entrepreneurship are integral to future economic growth, especially in the areas of research, development and commercialisation,” David says.
“By being involved in the festival, the Centre for Innovation is hoping to encourage a culture of innovation in all South Australians.”
Along with DTED and the CFI, the Office of the Venture Capital Board, SA Great, AusIndustry, BankSA, Limestone Coast Regional Development Board and the Water Industry Alliance are taking key roles in highlight events.
The SA launch of the festival will be held on April 26. Featured events include:
•Southern Innovation Forum (April 3)
•International Intellectual Property Day (April 26)
•Innovation in SA - a showcase of SA businesses (May 24)
•Water Industry Awards (May 25).
