ICT Recruiter sees upward trend
Fast Mover The Tennyson Group is a highly specialised Information and Communications Technology (ICT) recruitment consulting firm, and a premium supplier of human resource and custom service solutions in the ICT area.
Based in Adelaide and established in January 1995, Tennyson now has more than 250 government and private sector clients.
MD Geoff Sandell says the business focuses on four areas: Interim Staffing; Recruitment Services; HR Consultancy & Support(Human Capital Management Services in ICT); and ICT Projects.
“We do not normally rely on advertising as a portal to secure candidates, but on reputation, referrals and our network of industry contacts.”
Geoff says Tennyson partners with clients to provide services over the long term, which means quality of service is vital. The task is to identify client requirements accurately and screen candidates properly to exceed expectations.
“When I started The Tennyson Group initially it was just me, a telephone and a PC,” Geoff says. “We now employ around 130 people - it varies from week to week as we provide temporary staff (contractors) or consultants to our clients as they are needed for specific projects. In our office, there are now 10 full-time workers.
“In the first five years, we doubled our turnover every year. Our early growth got us recognised (in 2000) by BRW in their “Fast 100” list (we were 30th in Australia).
“After a period of consolidation, we grew rapidly again over the past three years - these recent figures are those that got us into the ‘in-business’ Fast Movers list. Last year, we reached $9.5 million in revenue.”
Geoff says his sector in SA is very fragmented.
“We estimate that no one company in our field has more than 10% market share in South Australia,” he says, “however we are now one of the biggest in ICT recruitment services. There is a small number of significant players - the rest of the m...
