Northern leaders get down to issues
The Northern Economic Leaders Group includes more than 100 northern-based business and regional leaders brought together by Salisbury Council to drive and manage growth in the region.
Sparked by Professor Richard Blandy's economic report showing Salisbury to be one of the fastest growing regions in Australia, outstripping SA in average growth, Salisbury implemented the move as part of its strategy to support local business leaders.
Salisbury council intends the Leaders Group initiative to create “a powerful ongoing forum for regional CEOs to share knowledge and meet the challenges and opportunities of sustainable business practices at local, state and international levels”. The move is central to the council's sustainable economic development plans.
The group is steered by a Champions Committee including Jim McDowell (BAe Systems), Tim Cooper (Coopers Brewery) and Kelvin Trimper (Lend Lease). As well as exchanging ideas, members are having input to gover...
