First women named to United team
Adelaide United Football Club has broken new ground, appointing sports and event marketing specialist Carolyn Francis and business lawyer Mabel Tam to its board.
Carolyn and Mabel, who were headhunted by the Reds, may be the first women to join the board of a major, male-dominated sporting franchise in SA.
“Adelaide United, and the A League, is very focused on accelerating the growth of football over the next few years,” says AUFC Chair, Dario Fontanarosa.
“An important aspect to this is to make sure that we’re properly positioned for growth by putting in place the necessary skills and resources.
“An element of achieving this goal is to further add to the dynamics of our organisation by increasing the talent and membership of the board.”
“While our board already included members with sound experience within sport and finance, the club looked to build in the areas of commerce and marketing, legal, IP, licensing and events.”
