Speakers in Schools
SA Great’s Speakers in Schools program aims to inspire and educate students about career options and opportunities available to them right here in South Australia, by providing them with young, dynamic speakers who visit schools and share their professional success stories.
These inspiring South Australians are passionate about our state and can demonstrate what positive outcomes our state can produce.
Last year, SA Great welcomed BHP Billiton as Principal Partner to the program, enabling it to go regional in 2007, as well as conduct information sessions for students, parents and teachers. To date, career forums have been held in Port Augusta, Port Pirie, Whyalla and Roxby Downs – providing advice and information on current labour market trends and future career opportunities for young people in the regions.
Milestone for Program
Since inception, the Speakers in Schools objective has been to inspire and inform South Australian students about how they can pursue their career goals in our home state and provide an insight on how to best achieve in their field of endeavour.
This term, the program will reach a milestone, with 50,000 students in South Australia having the benefit to hear a presentation from one of our volunteer speakers. This is a phenomenal result for the program, which was launched in October 2005.
