Tech Park a growing ideas hub at 25
When launched 25 years ago, Technology Park north of Adelaide was the first of its kind in Australia.
Today, the 65ha site is home to a community of like-minded businesses that operate in the broad ‘technology’ definition of key clusters in ICT, defence, light manufacturing, health and environmental technology sectors, and the professional services assisting them.
Owned and managed by the Land Management Corporation, a State Ggovernment corporation responsible for managing and developing South Australia’s portfolio of land assets, ‘Tech Park’ sits on land once world renowned for its merino studs and fleeces.
The original homestead remains today as a nod to innovators of the past.
Adjacent are University of South Australia Mawson Lakes campus and the Mawson Lakes housing development. The several buildings at Technology Park range from dedicated, purpose-built sites for tenants including Saab Systems, Parketronics, Optus, Xtralis, Topcon Precision Agriculture, Tenix and Sarstedt to Innovation House and Endeavour House where the Land Management Corporation leases space to companies ranging from a 1 person start-up to a larger businesses employing more than 50 people.
“One key feature of Technology Park has been we have been able to accommodate the growth of the companies who choose to locate at the Park by providing a range of accommodation options,” Technology Park Manager, John Parker says.
“At the base level we provide serviced offices suitable for up to four people; we also provide leased accommodation suitable for companies with more than 100 employees.
“If the company grows large enough, there are land development opportunities to construct purpose-built accommodation for the business.
