SADB drills down to essentials

Getting on at the ground floor has seen SADB Directional Drilling become an industry leader, now setting its sights on expansion.
Started as a tree-lopping business by Vince De Vizio and son Michael, in the mid 1990s, the firm was approached to roll out cables for Telstra. Importing directional drilling technology from the US, Vince and Michael developed the technique in SA.
After purchasing equipment and training in the US, the team won a three-year contract with Telstra for high return on investment.
Initially, business came from major telcos’ data and broadband rollouts, but the work soon expanded to include service installations for government, ETSA, councils, SA Water and commercial organisations.
The firm quickly became a market leader in capability based on sound business values, safety standards.
The restructure after Vince’s semi-retirement created a GM role and advisory board.
