Austofix braces for osteo-impact
SA orthopaedic surgeon Tony Ingman won’t be sitting on his laurels in his retirement - he will be sitting on the board of Austofix, the medical implants company he founded more than 14 years ago.
Operating from a purpose-built factory at North Plympton Austofix has manufactured and sold more than 98,000 implants in Australia and around the world. It plans to float on the Australian Stock Exchange early this year.
Austofix specialises in orthopaedic trauma devices.
The company’s intramedullary nails are used to repair bones damaged in accidents or by disease, such as osteoporosis.
Austofix won a $1.6 million Federal Government Innovation and Investment SA Fund grant in July, which both recognised and boosted its growth.
Tony, who is now Technical Director, will advise on the company’s future innovations and help expand the range of implants it offers.
