Max’s Sandbox gives SA kids a headstart in computer education
South Australian preschoolers and early primary students are the first in the world to use a unique educational software program that teaches adult technology skills.
Adelaide company eWord Development collaborated with the South Australian Department of Education, Training and Employment (DETE) to develop Max’s Sandbox, an early childhood interface to Microsoft Office.
The eWord Development team worked closely with early childhood educators to ensure that Max’s Sandbox is suitable for kindergarten, junior primary school children and children with special needs.
“We created child-friendly versions of existing features and added new features such as children’s templates, sound recording and a talking bird to allow even non-reading children to create great-looking, exciting projects,” eWord Chief Executive Officer Wendy Bromwich said.
