World Congress on IT Targets Global Community
The World Congress on Information Technology 2002 aims to stimulate international debate on IT issues through an online community forum that will allow people to take part in the event remotely.
A special online centre has been established to broadcast news and views across the world and to host live chat forums between students, businesspeople and IT specialists.
The site, the result of collaboration between Congress organisers, Community Information Strategies Australia (CISA) and Education.au, can be accessed through www.worldcongress2002.org the main congress website.
John Gygar, congress chief executive officer, said the online community forum would ensure the Adelaide event was truly global in scope.
“While we’re expecting more than 1,500 delegates to attend from around the world, we’ll be discussing issues that affect everyone,” Mr Gygar said.
