iBall Spectacle
The first annual iBall made a spectacle of itself last December, attracting 358 innovators and investors to the Adelaide Convention Centre to celebrate high achievement in that field.
Following an address by Premier Rob Kerin came a who’s who of speakers including Ian Buddery of eServ Limited (Sydney) and John Dyson of Starfish Ventures of Melbourne. Stephen Harvey, the City Leader of First Tuesday, recapped a busy year for that IT innovation forum.
The Deloitte South Australian Innovator of the Year Award was the night’s signal event, where South Australian initiative and imagination took centre stage.
The inaugural Deloitte South Australian Innovator of the Year Award went to Shane Yeend, CEO of Imagination Entertainment Pty Ltd.
Stephen Harvey, Deloitte Corporate Finance Partner and one of the award judges, said the Deloitte South Australian Innovator of the Year sought to recognise the people who turn intellectual capital into wealth.
“Commercialisation of market—driven intellectual capital drives competitive advantage, not just for the company concerned but for the state. But, more importantly, it’s the individuals behind the innovation process who are the real source of wealth creation,” Stephen said.
