Carbon Crusader

In the revolution of the ‘green’ age, Adelaide-based consultancy Carbon Planet is helping individuals and businesses get a grip on their carbon footprint. Founders and EDs Dave Sag and Dr Ross Williams founded the firm in January 2000, after an ABC-TV program on global warming and Australia’s response inspired Ross.
“Right now carbon commerce probably doesn’t mean much to business,” says Dave, “but it will.”
“Gradually Australian businesses are getting ready for the regulation of carbon emissions and the emerging carbon-constrained economy, where greenhouse gas emitting activities will start to cost them money.”
Initially, Carbon Planet focused on personal carbon management and invested time, money and research into developing a simple, transparent system for individuals to offset their carbon emitting activities.
As they began to work with businesses, Dave and Ross recruited a team of chemical engineers to develop a first-class greenhouse gas emissions audit and advisory team.
The business audit process follows three steps – measure, save and manage. Once emissions are measured, Carbon Planet determines where business energy and carbon emissions can be reduced and how the business can save.
