Energy Debate we have to have
It’s time to get down to detail on the overarching scientific challenge of our time - energy, climate change and how it’s all going to be paid for.
Sutherland Events’ Great Energy Debate on July 24-25 will feature a host of informed speakers on energy issues who will get to grips with the implications of carbon trading - which presents the most pervasive challenge to Australian businesses since the GST was introduced in 1998.
But organisers also want to reach beyond carbon trading to kick-start debate on “the overarching scientific challenge of our time”. Sutherland Events GM, Andrew Blue, wants to “inject some passion and energy” into a field that is notoriously long on motherhood statements and short on detail.
“The economic impacts (of carbon trading and renewable energy) haven’t been thought through,” Andrew says, observing that business certainly won’t want change to be legislated through “bureaucratic channels”.
