Who are Australia’s successful businesswomen and what are their barriers to success?
BRW’s ‘Executive Rich List’ released this April revealed all 200 of Australia’s wealthiest managers. Interestingly, only two women made the list. Salaries aside, why is it that women do not make these lists? Some people believe that gender is an obstacle that can limit a woman’s career. Others believe that the right attitude and beliefs can lead successful female entrepreneurs to survive the politics of business and conquer their competition.
Naomi Simson, one of Australia’s leading entrepreneurs and founder of RedBalloon Days (which employs about 50 people with revenue this financial year expected to reach $20m), commissioned the RedBalloon Workplace Report to investigate the obstacles still affecting women’s success and possible strategies to empower women in the workforce.
