Renewed funding fuels export drive
With a new three-year State Government-Business SA joint funding deal now in place, the Council for International Trade and Commerce South Australia can get on with leading the way in export development for the state.
Industry and Trade Minister, Kevin Foley says the Government will give Business SA $200,000 per year for the next three years to fund CITCSA operations. The new deal took effect on 1 July.
CITCSA is the umbrella group of organisations representing SA’s ethnic Chambers of Commerce and Business Councils. No other Australian state has such a network of contacts for coordinating outbound and inbound trade affairs.
“SA’s exports grew by 8.5% in the 12 months to March 2008 to $9.9 billion, and a record total in excess of $10 billion is expected for the 2007-08 financial year,” the Minister said, announcing the funding.
CEO Barry Salter says CITCSA’s Business Plan for 2008-2011 will continue the mix of:
Trade Missions. CITCSA will help its member organisations facilitate at least 10 inbound or outbound trade missions each year.
Events and Workshops. CITCSA will organise at least 20 networking events and trade workshops over the next year.
