Prospect plans for arterial vitality
The City of Prospect is embarking on what it expects be one of Adelaide’s major inner city redevelopment master planning projects, buoyed by a rush of expressions of interest in three planning initiatives intended to transform the inner suburban council area.
With the support of Planning SA and in line with the State Government’s call for transport-orientated development, Prospect Council is looking to take advantage of the four main arterial roads and the main northern railway line running through the Council’s area.
In September, Council CEO Mark Goldstone released calls for expressions of interest for the Master Planning of Prospect Road, Churchill Road and Prospect Oval as components of one major project.
“Prospect is ten minutes from the heart of the CBD, 15 minutes from the Port Adelaide maritime precinct and 20 minutes from the defence precincts of Mawson Lakes and Edinburgh Parks. We are strategically ideally placed to attract professionals who seek a quality inner city lifestyle,” Mark said.
Council says the scope of the project is broad enough for the three plans to be individually different, but they would be “integrated, innovative and demonstrate the very best of inner city urban design in global terms”.
