Turning your idea into a business

Leaving a secure job to start up your own business can lead to financial and personal freedom, according to author Melissa Seymour.
In her book Girl’s Guide to Turning your Idea into a Business, Melissa describes how she left a senior level corporate job as a reinsurance broker to buy a recruitment agency. After five years she sold it for three times the amount she paid for it.
Melissa says exiting was the “best and hardest decision” she made.
Now the owner of a PR and marketing company, she wrote the book to give practical advice to help women who want turn an idea into a business.
“My target audience is really women who are looking for an alternative life than the traditional nine-to-five grind. There is a way to design the life you want, from the hours you work to the way you approach your work. Hopefully this book will help people chart that course,” says Melissa.
