New Chifley backs tourism hopes

Chifley on South Terrace Reception Lobby The Grand Chifley Adelaide, formerly Hotel 208 by Constellation, officially re-opened on 12 February.
One of 71 properties operated by the Australianowned Constellation Hotel Group, the property has undergone an extensive refurbishment of all accommodation, function rooms, restaurants and public areas.
Set on the southern fringe of Adelaide’s CBD on South Terrace, the property’s newly refurbished conference and wedding facilities include three function rooms which can serve as conference breakout areas, cocktail parties or special events.
GM Ted Matthews says the Grand Chifley Adelaide’s redevelopment and renovation stems from the owner recognising the commercial need to ensure it relates well to guest requirements and a plan to reposition the property in a more discerning corporate and leisure market.
“The owners have shown a vision in investing and supporting tourism, corporate need and the South Australian economy,” says Ted.
He joined Constellation Hotel Group at the Country Comfort Sydney in 1998 before managing The Chifley on South Terrace in 2001. He’s optimistic about the industry even in the current economic market.
