Contracts flow from desalination plant
While most major infrastructure projects run a supplier forum as part of the start-up process, Adelaide desalination plant consortium AdelaideAqua’s recent subcontractor forum put everyone on the same page in new and efficient ways.
Held in partnership with Industry Capability Network SA and the Water Industry Alliance, the forum brought water industry SMEs up to speed with the project’s aims, timeframe and urgent need to tap local capabilities.
“This forum was both an opportunity for AdelaideAqua to reaffirm the relationship it is developing with the ICNSA and Water Industry Alliance and to conduct a session to brief potential suppliers and subcontractors of the procurement opportunities for the Adelaide desalination plant project,” says AdelaideAqua Project Director, Jim Frith.
“The forum was extremely successful in educating potential suppliers and subcontractors of the procurement process AdelaideAqua will be implementing.”
At the forum, AdelaideAqua publicly committed to sourcing 70% of the total supplier and subcontractor packages from SA-based enterprises. All subcontractors are required to register on ICNSA in order to be eligible to tender for work packages.
“The remaining 30% will be procured interstate or overseas if they are not available locally,” Jim says.
