Global designs from Melbourne Street
Sarah McInerney is an established interior designer with 15 years experience in Australia and overseas, specialising in couture interior design and styling. Since obtaining a Certificate of Fashion from Douglas Mawson Institute of TAFE in 1990 and a Bachelor of Interior Design from the University of SA in 1993, Sarah has worked in Adelaide, Sydney and the UK.
Her portfolio of work is impressive. Commercial projects include the offices of Warner Music and EMI Records in London.
She collaborated on the fit-outs for the Hoyts HQ in Sydney and the Melbourne Museum.
Locally Sarah’s work can be seen at the Adelaide Convention Centre (Executive Suite and administration offices) and the Legislative Council Members’ Lounge of Parliament House.
Her design philosophy is elegant and modern - simple architectural detailing with natural finishes and carefully considered lighting. Her styling focuses on a highly developed sense of colour, couture furniture and fine art.
Two years ago Sarah founded her own business, Sarah McInerney Designs, in Melbourne Street in North Adelaide. In effect she is launching her global ambitions from home.
“After spending time working for local and overseas organisations, I felt ready to set up my own business, developing the business process to suit my personal delivery of style and service,” she says.
“While I have always followed fashion, I identified a gap in the interior design market at a time when materials were only being sourced from local suppliers, yet consumer demand was showing that clients were interested in commissioning unique pieces from all over the world.
“As interior design opportunities exist the world over, I decided to engage those markets where I thought my work would be well received.
“I appreciate the synergy between fashion and interior design and wanted to provide a service that encompassed both.”
Even with current global economic instability bus...
