Brunei awakening

Blessed with high oil and gas revenue in recent years, Brunei is reaching out to the world to leverage its affluence for business development.
Francis Wong, President of the Australia-Brunei Darussalam Business Council, says Brunei’s Government has been working hard to develop strong relationships with ASEAN countries and others, with His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei involved in relationship development.
The Brunei market offers great opportunities for South Australians as both are small (Brunei’s population is about 350,000) compared to neighbours. “Bruneians see Malaysia and Indonesia in the same way South Australians see Sydney and Melbourne,” Francis says.
“Bruneians find doing business in Sydney challenging, Sydneysiders talk about different volumes, they’re structured for different opportunities and don’t try so hard to win the Bruneians’ business. I believe SA very compatible with Brunei in the way of thinking and the style of doing business....
